Jenn the Ethnographer

My blog is extremely subjective, but it is research that I am conducting. Learning about the behaviors that New York’s society has okay’d or not okay’d.  It is subjective because I am giving my own opinion about certain topics, and New York is something that is very important to me, but it is objective because I am giving you the lowdown of what it takes to be a true New Yorker. I am presenting you with the facts that I personally witness myself, with some other sources to back up my theories.

New York has a hidden agenda; it’s a place where you may never feel like an outsider because of how eclectic the society is, but deep down New York is just like any other place, it has its no verbalized rules, but you know they are there.

In summary, all of my blogs pertain to these hidden rules; I am a Jersey girl just trying to see what it takes to fit in in this enormous town.

As my Clothes and Society Professor has literally just explained to the class Ethnographic Study is a research method designed to explore cultural phenomena where the researcher observes society from the point of view of the subject of the study. An Ethnographer is someone who is participating in their observation; engaging in activities with them, but researching it as it’s happening; taking record of what you are observing; it is time consuming but necessary. – this is what I have become.

Please stay tuned.
